ABOUT THE ARTIST:
 
Since retiring in 2000 from her position as a Professor of English and Women’s Studies at Old Dominion University, Nancy Topping Bazin has devoted her life to art. Nancy exhibits her work frequently and actively participates in two artists’ cooperatives in Virginia Beach. She is an Exhibiting Artist at the Artists Gallery and one of the five Managing Artists at the Pembroke 4 Art Gallery. Her works are continuously on display at both locations. Jurors have given her seventeen awards.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
 
"In my painting I always transform the color of what I see. Therefore, I am a ‘colorist’ and sometimes a bit of a fantasist. I am increasingly fascinated by designs, whether they are man-made or found in nature. Thus, patterns, lines, and textures are becoming central to my style, and my work has moved away from realism toward the imaginative and playful."
