PURPOSE
The TWENTY-NINTH VIRGINIA WATERCOLOR SOCIETY JURORED EXHIBITION is open to any VWS member 18 yrs. or older living in Virginia

JUROR

Donna Watson

Donna Watson has been a painter for 26 years.  She is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society and the Northwest Watercolor Society. She is also a member of the Women Painters of Washington.  She is a President Emeritus of the
Northwest Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society.  She has won numerous awards in national juried exhibitions as well as best of show awards.  She has articles and paintings published in American
Artist (May 1998) and Watercolor (Fall 2007, Summer 2002), The Artist’s Magazine (Jan/Feb. 2008, Dec. 1999, April 2001) and Watercolor Magic issue on Creativity (June 2001, August 2002, October 2002).  She also has paintings reproduced in books including the Best of Watercolor
series for Painting Texture, Painting Light and Shadow, and Painting Composition.  Donna has experience as a juror (National Watercolor Society, Arizona Watercolor Association, Watercolor Society of Oregon, OMMA-Ottawa Mixed Media Artists, Florida Watercolor Society among
others) and workshop instructor (United States and Canada).  She has paintings in many private and corporate collections including Boeing (Seattle, WA).

Her current series deals with the passage of time and what remains. She is interested in the transience of the cycles and the layers, and textures left as time passes.  She is also interested in the permanence of the recurring cycle of life.

ELIGIBLE WORK
Paintings on paper in watercolor, acrylics, casein, gouache, or other aqueous media. No pastels. If other media and collage are used, Watermedia must dominate. Final decision on media qualification, including accepted works, rests with the Juror. All entries must be original, not done under supervision, and must have been executed since December 31, 2003. Works accepted for previous VWS Jurored Exhibitions are not eligible.

METHOD OF SELECTION

Selections will be conducted in two stages. The Juror will make selections of no more than one painting per artist from slides. Then artists will be notified of the Juror’s action and successful entries must then be submitted for the exhibition. Final jurying will be from actual works with Juror’s right of refusal. Slides of paintings accepted for the exhibition will be retained by the VWS for its archives. Slides of work not accepted for the exhibition will be returned with the notification cards.

SPECIFICATIONS

All paintings must be ready for hanging with screw eyes and wire, framed under Plexiglas, using only white or off-white mats. Maximum frame size in any direction is 48” including diptychs and triptychs which must be in a single frame.
